Reviews
California Bakery is truly a hidden gem! Their banh mi sandwiches are absolutely delicious--fresh, perfectly balanced flavors, and packed with just the right amount of crunch and texture. The donuts are light, fluffy, and taste great. And don't even get me started on the pate chaud aka pasties aka meat pies; they're savory and delicious. The crust is buttery, flaky, and airy. The filling incredibly moist and bursting with umami flavor. The owners are warm and welcoming, and the place is very clean. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or treating yourself, this spot is not to be missed!
I only recently discovered California Bakery when doing a search online for Vietnamese sandwiches. I tried their tofu and chicken Vietnamese sandwiches and both are really good. It's quite tasty. For the price, you get a lot and it's filling. I also tried their donuts for some sweetness and they were yummy. All the staff are super nice and helpful, offering recommendations when I asked. Plus, I'm big on supporting small businesses and will definitely be back! Please check out this cute bakery if you are in the area!
Dang. We were so hungry, I forgot photos. Doing some morning errands and nothing usually open yet to grab to eat but stumbled upon this place! I remembered seeing some friends post about their banh mi being pretty good and nicely stuffed. So we placed an order for the sandwiches over the phone and ordered on the spot for the rest of the things they had. Combo banh mi - solid. Indeed nicely filled and satisfying. Who needs to go all the way to the ghetto or San Jose. Lol Pork banh mi - not bad. A little salty but also filling and satisfying. Meat pie - we warmed it up at home and mmmm flaky, buttery and the meat was hefty and juicy. Dozen donut holes and a custard maple donut for the kids and hubs. Definitely a local spot, glad to see they're doing alright. Cute that they get the kids who just finish karate or bjj ordering. Service was friendly and quick. Your no-frills Asian bakery. But mostly meat pies, empanadas, and breakfast sandwiches. Don't expect the Asian baos, dim sum stuff.
Banh mi is good. Baguette is sort of dry probably from being over toasted but other than that the bang mi is pretty good.
The donuts and meat pies are delicious. The crust on the meat pies are always flaky and buttery and cooked to perfection, the meat itself is so flavorful. One of my favorite spots.
